(Microcrystalline Cellulose and Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium)
Neocel® is a colloidal grade of Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC), which is co-processed with Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium (NaCMC). Colloidal MCC is a fine and insoluble particle that can disperse in aqueous systems.
Benefits
Mechanism of Stabilization
Properly dispersed Neocel® sets up a 3-dimensional (3-D) network that imparts stability in the finished product.
The network is held together with hydrogen bonding between the particles of MCC and CMC. Unlike many rheology modifiers or thickening agents in the market, this is an insoluble 3-dimensional matrix, which provides the following unique functional properties in drug and food products.
Benefits in Drug
Neocel® functions as a suspending agent/thickener and emulsion stabilizer, primary used in syrups, suspensions such as antacid preparations, emulsions, nasalsprays and creams.
